Great Fight! Knew BJ would dominate at any game sean wanted to play,what BJ was lacking in strength(steroids) he more then made up for with talent,and just outclassed sean from the getgo.Woulda liked to see some ground game just so BJ coulda proved hed beat sherk there too,but still a convincing win.Anyone who watched that ending in slow-mo should have seen that sean was out and not defending himself way b4 the horn for end of round,the referee did act half retarded but it was clear that it should have been stopped b4 the round ended,btw was funny if u see the sherk post fight interview,when he says he doesnt remember what he got hit that made them stop it,if that doesnt tell u he was KNOCKED THE FUCK OUT,nothing does <img>

uh...he did. penn held his own in the striking til he gassed out, but after seeing his cardio in this fight, it should be a more competative rematch. His jitsu is second to none, and he's proven he can strike several times...should be an interesting rematch.

imo penn got robbed. its not like gsp dominated the fight at all. he had a couple of takedowns and did barely anything when he did take bj down. gsp looked like he got beat the fuck up after the fight. penn looked the same as after the sherk fight .

gotta say i thought bj got lucky with that shot. i mean he didnt do anything all fight except jab. way overrated. i still say if bj didnt get lucky sherk wouldve won. but thats fighting for ya, sometimes even the bums win.
Congrats to B.J. Penn on his win, but a champion is someone who can also defend that title. Title defense fights put more pressure on a fighter both physically and mentally. The champion has everything to lose, and the challenger has everything to gain. I haven’t seen B.J. demonstrate the mental or physical tools to keep a belt and fend off all other competition. His performance is inconsistent. His work ethic is not where it needs to be. His childish antics in the cage (i.e. licking blood off his gloves) are an embarrassment to a sport that is already viewed as unprofessional in many people’s eyes. He will fade into the background and be remembered only for his lack of dedication to the sport and unprofessional behavior. Running over to wipe blood off your opponent and licking it? He should have been stripped of his newly acquired title right then and suspended.
Why B.J. Penn is a GOOD fighter
-He has great natural ability
-He is an incredible grappler and a very good striker
-He has beaten some of the top fighters in multiple weight classes
-B.J. can take punishment (B.J. is no pussy)
Why B.J. Penn is not a GREAT fighter
-Two of the title shots he acquired were because the fighter who was supposed to be there could not participate (St. Pierre was injured and Sean Sherk was dealing with a steroid accusation)
-He has only defended a title one time (to Sean Sherk who never really “lost” the title)
-His dedication is questionable and he is inconsistent in conditioning and performance
-He has a habit of behaving stupidly at times
