fedors striking has always been over-rated, he throws short punches and timmay can keep him at bay with jabs to avoid those. tims only real advantage is his size, and used the right way with good power like in the nog fight he can destroy fedor. but tims TD defense is very suspect, so if fedor wins, it will only be by submission
fedors striking over-rated?? i feel like its more under-rated if anythin, he may not have any fancy leg kicks or anythin but hes a master at neutralizing the opponents striking and comin in with his powerful looping punches, that could knock anyone out. i feel as if tim has no chance in this fight in any possible way, his height means nothing cuz look at all the giants that fedors fought, guys bigger than tim and hes knocked the down with his looping punches. theres no way fedor is goin to let a has been like tim beat him.
to say that fedor's only chance is on the ground is foolish. Sure the best option is to chop him down and then use Fedors strong point and submit him. But his striking is Brutal. If hes at his most aggressive, like when he fought Gary Goodridge(how i wish he fought all the time) one of his straight line drive punches will take anyone out. But look at similar opponents fedors already beaten. Cro-cop: he made barely any attempt to sumbit him because he new he could hang with the best striker in the world on his feet. Heath Herring: threw him around like a ragdoll and butchered his face. And the most similar Simmy Schilt:6'11" 270lbs(bigger and stronger than tim)K1 champ(better striker than tim) pretty good on the ground(better than tim), Fedor beat the hell out of him. Decision yes, but dominant in his Pride debut. Tim has no chance. Gimme a break.
fedor is not a striker, plain and simple, so stop trying to amp his stand-up. His stand-up is far from technical to even give him the credit of being a good striker. As for sylvia, enough of those anvil taps to any fighters face, and they're gonna break down. Top three strikers in order are anderson silva, lyoto machida, then gsp.
i used 2 always say sylvia would win this fight had it ever occured but after the bullshit he's been doin with the steroids and losing 2 noguera (however u spell it...) i'm hopin fedor puts him in an armbar and brakes the shit off, sylvia's a joke
I never knew sylvia did roids, he never really looked roided out. Also, whats wrong with losing to minotauro? Minotauro is easily in the top 3 heavy weights. Either way, even though sylvia has the reach on fedor I think fedor has better strikes and ground game so I dont see sylvia winning. However, Sylvia has never been knocked out so I dont see a stoppage, maybe a submission but I'm betting on a decision in Fedor's favor. Anyway it goes its gonna be an awesome fight and I cant wait to see it.
yeah i totally agree wit u man, no matter the outcome it's gonna be one hell of a fight, oh and by the way i wasn't saying it was a disgrace for tim 2 lose to minotauro, i was just disgusted with Tim cuz he had the fight in the bag and then got caught wit an amateur submission but i have mad respect for minotauro, he's no joke, but anyhow i can't wait 2 see this one, it'll be good...

The only way I see Tim winning this fight is by opening a big gash over Fedor's eye, and having the doctor stop it. Remember the Fedor vs. Matt Lindland fight?? But either way, I don't think Tim stands a chance. GO FEDOR!!!!
Guys... Fedor isn't one dimensional. He isn't just a ground guy. It's true that his Submission ability and Ground and Pound are his strengths, but he's a excellently rounded fighter... A complete fighter. His striking is almost as good as his ground game, and though Sylvia has great striking, Fedor is just as good, probably even better. This is just one of those completely stacked fights to get Fedor ready to fight Couture. This was set up just to be a warm-up for Fedor.
Back when Randy Couture came out of retirement to fight Sylvia for the belt nobody thought Randy would stand with him at all. But he did. And he dropped Sylvia multiple times. And Then Ground and Pounded his way to the win.
But in this fight, Sylvia doesn't have a huge height advantage. Fedor is 6ft and Sylvia is 6'8''... Not even a foot advantage. This will Truly be a test for Sylvia, but it's pretty clear cut that the odds are against and he's most likely going to lose... Though it is MMA... And anything can happen.
anywayz its gonna be a good fight, both fighters diserve to stand there.
Sylvia is a good boxer, long reach. But do not underestimate the Emelianenko's hands.
There is a reason Fedor is better than Alexander, and Alexander is already crazy with his hands.
