So wait... BongTokes you dont think James Irvin sucks but you think Machida sucks? You're fucking dumb. Like do you realize Machida is undefeated with wins over BJ Penn and Rich Franklin? James Irvin blows.

i dont mean machida sucks skill-wise, i mean he sucks for MMA! he turns fights into a gay chess match and is too much of a pussy to engage, and i fear he will take rampages belt with his weak, homo counterstriking, and if that happens, im never watching UFC ever again
LOL, it was hilarious. I got exhausted trying to count how many times the columnist uses the word "safety" and its variants.
It seems that they are trying to transform MMA into a play and amusement suitable for small kids.
What the columnist actually implies, is that the fight should always be stopped and declared KO after the first knock-down.
The outcome of many Pride fights would have been the opposite if this rule had been applied.
To be perfectly fair I counted 6, maybe a generous 7 and it's still an opinion that's worth considering, if only briefly.
Also, safety is important and Frank Trigg is in a good a position as any to be the judge of this, probably a much better position than you, Hep.
I'm not saying that calling an end to a fight after a flash knockout makes it more realistic or entertaining - but it certainly will help a fighters longevity not just in the sport but in life generally. Nobody wants to see a bunch of neanderthals slugging away at each other mindlessly for 3 rounds, completely unable to string a sentence together by the end of the fight. Oh dear, I believe that I may have made my second attack on pro boxing in one thread... Nvm.
Regardless of what you might think about the matter, a flash knockout still compromises the health of a fighter, especially if they continue to be pummelled with repeated blows to the head after this has happened. After losing conciousness your body becomes incapable of absorbing the force of a punch to the head without sustaining long-lasting trauma to the brain. Like I say - I'm not saying that a fight should be called after a flash knockout - just to say that it would make the fights safer and is as good a reason as any to call a fight, certainly no worse than a doctor's stoppage because of a cut. Cuts are fairly superficial in nature, mostly, and the damage of blood getting to the eye pales in comparision to the damage of repeated blows to the head of someone only recently recovered from unconciousness.
What's up everyone this is my first post here on MMAshare. And on the topic of Irvin vs. Alexander this will definitely be a first rounder. I see it as a straight stand up war and someone is going to get rocked early in. I'm going with James Irvin KO Round One. Houston is no slouch but I give this stand up battle to Irvin all day.

All I gotta say is WOW! Good call man! What you think about the fight with Silva and Jardine?
