brazil's lyoto machida may not be a top contender yet, and he's not an explosive, exciting fighter to watch, but his unsusual way of adapting to each fighter he faces and slowly dismantling the opponents arsenal as brought him so far to a 12-0 mma record if i'm not mistaken.
now that's something worth looking into i think. especially since the last guy he made look awkward in the cage was none other than soukoudjou, by many regarded as the next big thing since he's still so young.
machida may not not be much to look at, but neither is fedor if u think about it, but when the bell goes off he turns into a fighting machine to be reckoned with.
i'm curious to see machida deal with the likes of thiago silva, wand, liddell or other light hw top contenders.

The thing with this fight is that Liddell HAD to win to stay in the UFC.
The UFC has said time and time again, 3 losses in a row, and you are unlikely to fight there again.
The fact he was the champion a few fights ago doesn't mean anything if he is losing.
Silva on the other hand, it was his first fight in the UFC in 7 years, he had to get used to the shape of the ring, and the fact you can't kick opponents while they are down... on top of the fact that Chuck was in there with his whole career at stake.
I think if Silva had been given a couple of fights before this one in the UFC, he would have been a lot more relaxed, and a lot more comfortable with the cage and the more professional style of fighting, and you would have seen a much different fight.
But that wouldn't take away from the fact that Chuck went in to this fight with everything on the line, and even without Silva being confused and nervy, I don't think Silva would have been able to beat him.
I don't like Chuck, he is a sore loser, I hate sore losers, Bisping got a lot of flack for saying he thought he won the fight against Rashad, but at least he showed a lot of respect for him (and Rashad in return) but Chuck just has that sad look on his face and expects everyone to feel sorry for him, and doesn't even shake his opponents hand, and I hate that.
I wanted Chuck to lose, but there was not a chance in hell that he was going to.
dont start that saying wanderlei wasnt used to the ring. he changed his whole training style completely. he went to a new training facillity with new coaches,personal trainers and everything just for this fight. for the past couple of months before the fight he was training in the octogan with fantastic coaches, they did the best they could with wanderlei and was as ready as he could ever be for the ufc. Alot of people who say he wasnt because he lost SHUT UP!wanderlei was more than ready he just came into the fight cautious
when chuck went to pride for a little bit and he never complained about the ring, he completely dominated in pride. and whats with "he never shakes peoples hands" ? sure its good sportsmanship but who cares chucks there to fight not to make friends. you wanna have people shake hands all the time watch something else, may i suggest toon disney or nickalodeon those are some nice friendly shows. the fact of the matter is chucks getting paid to knock people out, and hes doin a great job at it and if you dont think so take it up with him youreself then we'll see how youre opinion changes. so for now everyone quit making excuses for wanderlie. I think that you should use your "keen" MMA super powers to go onto sherdog's fight finder and do a little research. You'll find that Lyoto has beaten some of your favorite UFC superheroes, and then you might be able to intellengent...sorry, add something to the conversation or at least keep up. Stay there a little while and you might find out that there are other MMA orginizations than the UFC and Pride.
As for the fight, both guy knew what to prepare for and trained their asses off for it and Chuck came out a better man that night. The what if's and timeshifting are a mute point.

Both fighters are amazing and dominated their respective organizations for years.
Saying someone is crap because they only beat second class fighters is a insult to all mma fighters out there. Anyone who can step into a ring or octagon and fight is respectable and dangerous.
