That's an amateur fight gss--those guys both suck ass. The asian guy has ground skills, I'll give him that. He'd get eaten alive in the UFC where guys have waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better TD defense and aren't such chumps that you can take their back while they're standing. That fight was actally kind of pathetic. The black dude made almost no effort to pass guard, the asian guy obviously had no takedown skills at all (he just tried pulling guard about 4000 times) and weak standup. It was two chumps fighting a shit fight in a third rate organization--no wonder it looks so much like Pride.
because people need hop and skip and do crazy shit for it to be a "real" mma fight....right? it's so real, that they need to stop the fighters every round because some dude is falling out of the poorly designed ring...

just watch melvin guillard get absolutely owned twice in a row by average jujitsu fighters, and he is the most devastating LW striker IMO
also Antoni hardonk, he is a devastating striker, but justin mccully tooled him for 15 minutes just by using Tito's gameplan. hardonk also got owned by frank mir in less than 2 minutes in his next UFC bout.

I'll give you the entertaining fights. I'll even give you that they had a few great fighters (Fedor, Big Nog, Rampage, Silva, Hendo all come to mind). Most of their fighters were shit though--look at "top tier" fighters like Cro Cop and how they get thoroughly worked when they go anywhere but Pride. Pride had a few great fighters on top and a bunch of cream puffs underneath them. I don't want to take away from their great fighters when I say that, and I don't want to say it wasn't fun to watch sometimes, but let's be real here--as a complete organization, they were nothing special.

WTF? You have one guy who doesn't seem to understand he's outclassed on the ground so he needs to pass guard, and another guy whose specialty is groundfighting, but he doesn't understand that you don't RNC someone by throwing your forearm across their nose....but I'm the one who doesn't understand MMA?
And by the way, I don't penalize fighters for their styles. I appreciate groundwork a lot, as just about anyone on this board will tell you--and I gave Aoki his props, though he still has shit takedowns. And I am qualified to comment on that since I've been wrestling for over 14 years.
Those guys looked daft, plain and simple. You say they're great, but I'd wager dollars to donuts that 1) Penn, 2) Sherk, 3) Huerta, 4) Guida, 5) Stevenson are five lightweights that would trash those two in the first two rounds--and that's just out of the UFC's roster. There is no F'ing way that those two are top five in the world. They fight in Dream, FFS.
Bj Penn could probably beat Aoki but I don't think Sherk could. I think Aoki would submit him on the ground. I don't see anyone else beating Aoki in the UFC. YOu understimate Aoki's ground skills. It's not always about striking, that's why Fedor is a champion. This is real MMA, if you don't like it, then go watch K-1.

I practice Jiu Jitsu, you retard. That's pretty specifically why I said he has ground game. He's still boring as shit, has no takedowns, and can't throw a punch worth a damn. He'd get dismantled by any balanced fighter.
The fight was a showcase of two talented but totally one sided fighters. Aoki's rubber-guard is the best I've ever seen, but he's totally dependent on being so close that he can't be hit hard. As for JZ, there are plenty of guys who hit hard. Until you can hit hard and avoid getting tied up by the BJJ guys, it's just an active way of losing.
